Marcella E. Franczkowski, Assistant State Superintendent of the Maryland State Department of Education Division of Early Intervention and Special Education Services, delivered federal, State, and local impact data updates to Maryland’s local Directors of Special Education, Preschool Special Education Coordinators, and Infants and Toddlers Program Directors. This comprehensive unpacking of guidance, policy, resources, and information continues the Division’s ongoing support for local leadership planning and implementation.
MSDE hosted more than 150 decision-makers and policymakers for an opportunity to meet Maryland’s new State Superintendent of Schools, Mohammed Choudhury. Invited participants who were in attendance included local Directors of Special Education, Preschool Special Education Coordinators, Infants and Toddlers Program Directors, secondary transition facilitators, family support services coordinators, State legislators, and leading education advocates. The Meet-and-Greet provided the first opportunity for Maryland’s early intervention and special education community to meet Mr. Choudhury and show the new State Superintendent of Schools that the statewide community is prepared to work under his leadership to continue to narrow the gap for children and students in Maryland and their families.
